automatic enrollment

Enrollment of an employee in a 401K or similar retirement plan without a choice on the part of the employee. The IRS allows employers to automatically deduct a fixed percentage from an employee's wages for a qualified plan unless the employee chooses to contribute nothing or a different amount.
