National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund (NCUSIF)

A fund created by the National Credit Union Association (NCUA) for the purpose of protecting deposit accounts of credit union members. The fund is paid for through fees and other charges assessed by participating institutions so that no taxpayer funds are used to cover losses during a financial crisis.
