Any preferred stock that was issued after October 1, 1942, which marked the day that the dividends received by corporate investors on preferred stock was raised to 85%. Certain tax breaks are given to corporate investors that hold new money preferred, such as the ability to omit a certain percentage of stock dividends from taxation.
