trend trading

A strategy where the investor attempts to gain from the market by analyzing the upward momentum (i.e. trend) of a stock or commodity. This strategy assumes that the value of the stock or commodity will continuously rise over their chosen timeframe (whether in the short or long term). The investor will remain in this position until such a time they believe the trend has reversed.
